The English language

Today I learned that the word selfie was added to the dictionary this year. A selfie as in a picture one takes of them self by them self. This was a word that was uncommon and used commonly by teenagers and the younger side of the generation who are obsorbed in the technology advances of the twenty first century. To think that teen age coloquial can be added to a dictionary so easily makes me wonder what the english language will become in the next 50 years with all the shortened words caused by texting to save time. This may lead to less intellectual people and eventually common to use words like LOL in everyday speech. We have already started with some like OMG! What will the world become?
